About Us Your Guide to Everyday Life in Atlanta
The Atlanta Guide is a resource for finding real places to eat, drink, stay, and spend your time across the city. We cover restaurants, bars, coffee shops, hotels, salons and spas, live music venues, museums, and the neighborhoods that hold them all together, with the goal of giving you information you can actually use.
Atlanta is a big, spread out city with a lot of neighborhoods worth knowing, from Midtown and Old Fourth Ward to West Midtown and beyond. Our guides are built to help you find your next favorite spot, whether you live here or you’re just visiting.
Meet the Founder
The Atlanta Guide is written and run by Alison Iddings. What started as a way to keep track of favorite restaurants and neighborhood finds grew into a full guide to the city, built one visit and one write-up at a time.
Alison has a lifelong love of good food, new places, and writing about both. She built The Atlanta Guide to help people find the neighborhoods, restaurants, and hidden gems that make Atlanta worth exploring, and she is always looking for the next spot worth writing up. When she is not working on the site, she is usually planning her next trip or trying a new restaurant.
Have a favorite spot we should know about?
We’re always looking for new places to feature, from neighborhood restaurants to hidden gems. If there’s somewhere in Atlanta you think belongs on the guide, we would love to hear about it.
Send Us a TipOur Approach
Every guide on this site is written to be genuinely useful, not just a list of names. We focus on the details that actually matter when you’re deciding where to go: what a place is known for, what the vibe is like, and what to expect when you get there.
We update our guides as things change, and we would rather leave a place off the list than recommend somewhere that no longer holds up.
Explore Food & DrinkWhat You’ll Find Here Guides Across Atlanta
The Atlanta Guide covers the categories that make up everyday life in the city, organized so you can find what you need quickly.
Food, Drink & Nightlife
From neighborhood restaurants and coffee shops to bars, breweries, and live music venues, we cover the spots that make Atlanta’s food and nightlife scene worth exploring, along with the cocktail bars and late-night spots for when the sun goes down.
Stays & Things to Do
Whether you’re visiting or hosting someone who is, we cover boutique hotels, extended-stay options, and places to stay across the city, along with the museums, galleries, historic sites, and events that make Atlanta worth exploring.
Beauty & Wellness
We also cover the salons, spas, and wellness spots around Atlanta, from a reliable haircut to a spa day when you need one.
Neighborhood by Neighborhood
Atlanta is made up of distinct neighborhoods, each with its own character, and we try to cover them individually rather than lumping the whole city together. Our neighborhood guides are a good place to start if you’re getting to know a specific part of town.
Always a Work in Progress
Atlanta changes fast, and so do the best places to eat, drink, and spend time in it. We’re always adding new guides and updating existing ones to keep up with what’s actually happening in the city.
Something Changed?
If you spot a place that’s closed, changed, or worth adding, we want to know. Reach out anytime.
