Fontaine’s Oyster House

Set in a converted house on North Highland Avenue, Fontaine’s has served fresh oysters and no-frills seafood in Virginia-Highland for decades. The low-lit, dark-wood dining room and covered patio have a dive-bar feel, but the raw bar turns out credible half-shell oysters, lobster mac and cheese, and a Lowcountry boil. It’s a reliable neighborhood spot for casual seafood and drinks rather than white-tablecloth dining.
