About

Set inside a 1924 building in the Historic Avondale Estates Tudor Village — listed on the National Register of Historic Places — this space originally housed the city’s first City Hall and U.S. Post Office before converting into the Avon Theater in 1938. Over the decades the stage has hosted Elvis Presley, the Allman Brothers Band, R.E.M., and the B-52’s, along with boxing, wrestling, plays, and a stint as a recording studio. After a few years operating as 37 Main, a Buford-based tribute-band venue that exited in 2024 over feeling disconnected from the city, local developer Oakhurst Realty Partners relaunched the building in early 2025 under its original Avon Theater name, running it directly as a community event venue rather than leasing it out. The two-floor, roughly 280-capacity room includes a main-floor bar and dining area plus an upstairs balcony with its own bar and stage views; its first year back included more than 65 shows from acts like Yacht Rock Schooner and Mudcat, with 2026 programming spanning ’90s alt-rock, reggae, and Grateful Dead tribute nights.
