Founded in 1998 and run by current owners Ben Cheaves and Bill Overall since 2005, Mary’s is a queer dive-bar institution in East Atlanta Village. Weekly programming includes ‘Mary-oke’ karaoke (15,000+ song catalog) on Wednesdays, drag shows on Thursdays and the first Saturday of the month, gay video nights, and rotating DJ sets. It’s been named one of Out magazine’s 50 best gay bars worldwide (2007), Creative Loafing’s Best Gay Bar in Atlanta (2010-2018), and Atlanta magazine’s #5 best bar (2019).
