About

Built in 1904 by Pratt Engineering and later acquired by the Pullman Company in 1926 as a railcar repair facility, this 27-acre site in Kirkwood was once a major employer of Black railroad workers whose organizing helped found the nation’s first African American labor union affiliated with the AFL. After rail operations declined, the abandoned yard became a magnet for street artists and filmmakers — serving as a backdrop for The Hunger Games, The Fast and the Furious, Baby Driver, and Bad Boys for Life — before Atomic Entertainment redeveloped it in 2017 into the Pratt-Pullman Landmark District. Today the thirteen-building complex operates as an arts and entertainment destination hosting touring exhibitions, concerts, and themed nightlife events alongside food, drink, and pickleball courts.
