Variety Playhouse

Variety Playhouse occupies a WWII-era movie theater that first opened as the Euclid Theatre in 1940, operated as a cinema into the late 1980s, and converted to a live music venue in 1990. With a sloping main floor, balcony, and a roughly 1,000-person capacity, it has hosted an eclectic range of rock, indie, electronic, funk, country, folk, bluegrass, jazz, blues, and world music acts, and was named Atlanta’s Best Concert Venue for nine consecutive years (2000-2008).

The building opened in 1940 as the Euclid Theatre, a movie house, before a 1989 renovation turned it into Variety Playhouse, a roughly 1,000-capacity room that’s become one of the city’s go-to spots for mid-size touring acts.
